It all started with Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous. This was a show in the late 70’s that brought viewers from around the world into the homes of some of the riches celebrities on the planet. Our mouths dropped in awe as they showed us extravagant chandeliers and fixtures that we could have only dreamt of. These celebrities’ homes for the most part were spectacular but understandable at the same time. Think about it! If you were a multimillionaire like these celebrities were your house would be bigger then the average house and it would contain some of the better things that money could buy. That is understandable. Fast forward to the late 90’s and a show named MTV cribs and the word “understandable” can no longer be used. We’re talking about houses with things in them that have no logical reason being there and garages sporting cars that are probably worth as much as some of our homes. There will always be a necessity for shows like this because we will always be intrigued not only by what others have in their homes but more importantly what celebrities have in their homes. It is not uncommon to see some celebrities decorate their home with fixtures made of pure solid gold. They have gyms in their homes that not only rival most cities top clubs but surpass them. One of the most depressing things you may ever see is a celebrity’s house, with a dog and doll houses that are nearly the size of a normal persons inhabitants. I guess it’s true. Not only do celebrities live better then we do but their dogs and dolls do as well. Some of you might not be aware of who Master P is. He is a celebrity who gained his fame as a rapper earning him more then 300 million dollars. He also received some notoriety recently on dancing with the stars. He has a son who has also reached celebrity status as a hip hop artist. I remember growing up that a lot of us had a hard enough time convincing our parents to give us our own room. Well, Master P did one better. When his son turned 13 he was given a scaled down version of the main mansion as his own. So there were now two ridiculously large mansions, with matching furniture and fixtures including matching chandeliers. The only thing that is more extravagant then these celebrities’ homes is their cars. It is not uncommon to find a celebrities’ car with 50 to a 100 thousand dollar rims made from diamonds. Celebrities are known to have upwards of four televisions in their cars including two on the back seat. You might be asking why there are two televisions on the two back seats as no one would be able to watch them. Celebrities are quick to tell you that they are for the people in the car behind them at the traffic lights. The celebrities’ car upgrade that truly takes the cake though is that of Wyclef Jean who managed to talk a company into putting a full sized shark aquarium into his car. Celebrities have always tried to find a way to distinguish themselves from the rest of society but now with these home and car wars I think we’re reaching a point of no return. I can only imagine what these celebrities have in store for us in the coming years.
